The Mission Beach Women's Club (MBWC) was organized on November 4, 1926, when 10 women, mostly Navy wives, gathered together by our founder, Mrs. Olive Van Dorsten, to form a club devoted to the ideals of community service. At first, members met at each other's homes. The club purchased the clubhouse known as The Shirley Cottage, a charming historic house built in 1918, one of the first buildings built in Mission Beach, which continues to be our venue.
Today, the Mission Beach Women’s Club continues its role of community service. It is a nonprofit organization with the revenue generated through venue rentals flowing directly back into the community. Mission Statement: The Mission Beach Women’s Club, Inc., founded in 1926, is dedicated to community service, charitable giving, educational enrichment, and social opportunities. |
