Grants & Requests for Funding
The Mission Beach Women's Club Philanthropy Committee will review requests for funding after the deadline on December 31, 2024. Grant applications received by the December 31 deadline will be considered during our vetting process, January 1, 2025 through February 28, 2025. Decisions for funding will be made by March 31, and grants will be distributed during the Mission Beach Women's Club June 2025 meeting. Nonprofits receiving grants will be invited to MBWCs annual philanthropy funds presentation taking place at the June meeting.
If your organization is granted funds, a report of how the funds were utilized is required to be sent to Cinda Brockman, Director of of the MBWC Philanthropy Committee, within 60 days after the end of your organization's fiscal year in which the funds were granted.
Please read these guidelines carefully. If you have any questions, please contact Cinda Brockman, Director of Philanthropy, at [email protected], cell 858-361-4270,
Eligibility
- Applicants must have had Federal 501(c)(3) and State 23701d tax-exempt charitable status for at lease three (3) years.
- Applicants may not use a Federal 501(c)(3) from another nonprofit organization.
- Applicants must have been established and operating in San Diego County for at least three years.
- Previously funded beneficiaries are eligible to submit a new application three (3) calendar years for the application date of their most recently funded grant. Applicants not funded may apply again in the next cycle for either the same or a different item.
- MBWC will grant only one arm of a multi-faceted or multi-programmed organization with a single tax ID number in any one grant cycle.
- MBWC will consider an application from a public or private school as long as the proposal addresses a critical need among a specific population attending the school. To qualify, the school must have Federal 501(c)(3) status or must have an associated foundation or group with that status through which the application is being made (i.e., PTA, Foundation, or Friends).
- MBWC does not fund municipalities or government agencies: it will only consider organizations with Federal 501(c)(3) status as noted above. No other form of tax-exempt status qualifies.
- MBWC will not fund individuals, salaries, programs, training, warranties/service contracts, subscriptions, user licenses, separately purchased software, items for distribution, bank/investment accounts, endowments, general reserve funds, operation costs, or vehicle wraps.
- Funded items must be used in San Diego County and benefit the inhabitants of San Diego County.
- Beneficiaries must submit proof of purchase of the approved grant within 60 days of receipt of funds. Grant funds may only be used for items specifically approved by the MBWC. Additional funds remaining after the approved items have been purchased must be returned to MBWC promptly. Failure to provide proof of purchase or return funds will disqualify the organization from applying for future MBWC grants
